Pool Policies & Guidelines

Accidents & Reporting

All accidents must be reported to the lifeguard immediately. Any complaints or suggestions should be directed to the Aquatics Director.

 

Adult Lap Swim

Lap swimming is reserved for individuals 18 years and older during designated adult lap swim times.

 

Age Restrictions

• Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older) while in the water.

• Children using flotation devices such as belts or bubbles must be supervised by a parent or guardian (18 or older) who is either in the water with them or seated poolside within arm’s reach.

 

Appropriate Swim Attire

• Proper swimwear is required. Swimmers must wear bathing suits—street clothing, undergarments, or inappropriate attire are not permitted in the pool.

• Children in diapers must wear waterproof swim diapers and a swimsuit.

 

Safety & Conduct

• Running on the pool deck is strictly prohibited.

• Jumping into the pool is only permitted from the designated white gutter area—running jumps are not allowed.

• Front or back dives, flips, and jumping from starting blocks are prohibited.

• Horseplay, including pushing, excessive splashing, and throwing others into the pool, is not allowed.

 

Equipment Use

• Pool equipment (kickboards, barbells, flippers, inner tubes, etc.) is for use by individuals 18 years and older.

• Children may wear goggles that cover only the eyes during open swim.

 

Health & Wellness

• Individuals who have been recently ill, have open wounds, or are experiencing a contagious skin condition are not permitted to enter the pool.

 

Swim Testing

• All swimmers 12 years and younger must complete a swim test, consisting of swimming four widths of the pool.

• Those who pass the test will receive a designation allowing access to the deep end; those who do not must remain in the shallow section.

 

Weather Policy

• The pool will close for at least 20 minutes in the event of a thunderstorm and 30 minutes for lightning.

• The pool will reopen once no thunder or lightning has been observed within the designated wait period.
