NEW FACILITY

Building a Strong Community

At the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA, our core identity revolves around building community. We believe that every individual, regardless of their background or origins, deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Everything the YMCA does is in service of ensuring individuals and communities thrive.

Our History

In November 1968, the YMCA opened its first area facility on Cleveland Avenue. Although initially offering only a modest selection of programs and services, this marked the start of our deep-rooted commitment to community service. The current YMCA on Starling Avenue was opened in 1990 at a cost of $3.6 million and was entirely funded through a community campaign.

Our current 36,000-square-foot facility has allowed the YMCA to significantly expand programs and services to reach all ages and abilities throughout our community.

Transforming Community

The vital needs of our community are much greater than the YMCA can serve in its current location. In partnership with the Harvest Foundation, plans are underway to build a new 60,000-square-foot family YMCA. The cutting-edge center will serve as a hub for a multitude of programs and services designed to enrich the lives of thousands. From children and teens to adults, seniors, and families, our commitment extends to every corner of our community, ensuring access to transformative opportunities for all.

New YMCA Facility Capital Campaign Kickoff

On September 19th, 2024, we proudly kicked off the New YMCA Facility Capital Campaign, marking the beginning of an exciting journey toward expanding our impact in the community. The event brought together supporters, community leaders, and YMCA advocates to celebrate this milestone and rally support for the future of our new facility. With this campaign, we aim to create a space that fosters health, wellness, and connection for generations to come. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we’re just getting started!
