Adult Aquatic Programs
The YMCA offers a wide variety of programs for adults. See below for class descriptions.
Aqua Mix
Strengthen, stretch, and tone in the water while having fun and keeping hair dry. Includes walking, Ai Chi, and use of equipment. Taught in the Therapy Pool.
Adult Swimming Group Lessons
Classes are centered under each adult and their own personal goals. Range from beginner to Advanced-Beginner.
Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program
A series of exercises done to increase range of motion while strengthening muscles, particularly those around the joints. You do not have to be a swimmer. Led by Arthritis Foundation certified instructors.
Swimnastics
A mix of aerobic exercises performed in the water with the use of equipment like hand bars and barbells to complete a full fitness class. You do not need to be a swimmer. Classes meet: Monday-Friday 9:00-10:00 (Subject to change. See current pool schedule for times)
Aqua Aerobics
A workout designed to burn more calories and gain muscle strength by using the water as resistance. Various walking and jumping steps and non-impact jogging will be done. Some swimming skills required.
Deep Water Aerobics
Intense Cardiovascular workout achieved through water jogging and a series of resistance routines. Some swimming skills required.
Aquacise
Combination of stretching, toning, and cardiovascular exercises done in the water of the Recreational Pool. You do not have to be a swimmer.
Aqua Flex
Taught within the warm water of the Therapy Pool. Class designed to provide exercise that relieves tension and loosens stiffness.
Private Swim Lessons
Private swim lessons are given by a YMCA instructor at request. Cost is $30.00 an hour for members and $45.00 an hour for non-members. Classes can be taught in 30 minute or 1 hour sessions. Contact our Aqautics Director, Sara Ramsey, to setup a private swim lesson.
Canoe Club
In association with the Smith River Canoe Club, members practice techniques in the swimming pool. Must have your own kayak.
