YMCA After School Programs

The YMCA holds before and after school child care programs year round. Registration is now also year round. Programs are state licensed through the Virginia Department of Social Services. The YMCA operates after school programs at the following elementary schools and at the Martinsville and Collinsville YMCA Branches from 2:30 - 6:00 pm. (Phone calls are available after 2:45 PM.)

**A minimum of 20 children is needed to provide before and/or after school care.

About Our After School Prograns

Program Goals

• To strengthen and support the family unit by improving communication.


• To increase a sense of community with other families.


• To help children develop their fullest potential by focusing on: confidence, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, values development, academic achievement, physical skills, and health and nutrition.


• To deliver the program in a positive environment of safety, support, and care.

To accomplish these goals, our program is divided into six parts daily: rest time, study time, snack time, play time, craft time, and people time. Snacks and program materials are provided by the program.

The cost is $40.00 weekly for after school, $20.00 for before school, plus a $20.00 activity fee which includes insurance and supplies. Payment is to be made to the YMCA on a weekly basis in advance of days attending.

To register, fill out the Before/After School Registration Form, and provide a copy of immunization and medical information. Registration will be held at individual schools on Business Night. Parents are required to provide the YMCA with the following: physical and immunization records of child, and emergency medical release form, and other permission slips as deemed necessary by Site Directors. Scale for rates is listed below with prices going into effect 9-1-2008

Before School       $20.00 weekly ($80.00 monthly)
                          $5.00 daily (3 or less days per week)
After School         $40.00 weekly ($160.00 monthly)
                          $$9.00 daily (3 or less days per week)
Before & After      $60.00 weekly ($240.00 monthly)
                         $14.00 daily (3 or less days per week)
All Day care         $17.00 daily
The registration fee will be $20.00 per child

Summer Day Camp

Summer Day Camp is 10 action packed weeks of fun in the sun! Campers will enjoy weekly themes, arts & crafts, healthy snacks & lunch, daily swimming, weekly field trips and much more!

The cost of Summer Day Camp is $77.50 per child weekly. 
Field trips are optional and an additional cost.
Registration Dates:
YMCA Afterschool Participants only  Saturday, April 12th
 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Open to the public Saturday, April 19th 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. only if there are spaces available.
 Registration forms will be available Monday, March 31st to anyone wishing to participate.

On Registration day form must be completed and you must also have your child's physical & immunization records & birth certificate. Registration fee of $20.00 will also be required.
Registration forms will not be taken at any time other than Registration Days!
You must register your child for Summer Day camp even if they are already attending or have attended a YMCA Child care program.
Spaces are limited.  children are taken on first come, first serve basis.
You must reapply for financial assistance through the Y or Social Services during the summer months.
